Mima Foods, a leading Egyptian producer of frozen fruits and vegetables, marks a significant milestone with this opening, aligning with national efforts to strengthen Egypt’s industrial and agricultural value chain.
The new factory was built with investments exceeding USD 20 million, and is designed with a total annual production capacity of 26,000 tons in its first phase, with future plans for further expansion. The facility is fully dedicated to serving global markets as a modern, export-oriented hub for Egyptian frozen produce.
During the visit, Deputy Prime Minister El Wazir reviewed the full production workflow and continued through the facility’s main sections, including the IQF production lines and the automated packaging system. Mima Foods’ facility is fully equipped chemical and microbiology laboratories and controlled-access hygiene rooms, which play a critical role in maintaining international safety, hygiene, and quality standards across all products.
As part of its commitment to global compliance and product integrity, the facility is certified and operates in accordance with internationally recognized safety and quality requirements.
Our Managing Director Ahmed El Shennawi , highlighted the strategic direction of the company: “This factory was built as a 100% export-oriented facility. Our frozen products are designed to compete and succeed in global markets, while remaining rooted in Egyptian agriculture and expertise. The local component in this factory exceeds 99.8%, from our raw materials to our teams and supporting services, and we are proud that this value is created here in Egypt.”
He added: “We welcome all our clients from around the world to visit our facility. Seeing the process firsthand builds trust, transparency, and stronger partnerships, and we are always proud to show how our frozen products come to life.”
The facility processes a wide range of 100% Egyptian-origin IQF products, including strawberries, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, artichokes, mixed vegetables, peas, okra, spinach, mango, and pomegranate. All products are from local farms and undergo strict hygiene procedures, temperature control measures, and are frozen to preserve natural flavor, color, and nutritional value.
This inauguration reinforces the alignment between national industrial goals and the work underway at Mima Foods, highlighting the company’s contribution to Egypt’s growing position in the global IQF market.
